5hp brigs and stratton shaking

I have a 5hp brigs and stratton engine i bought used and it ran fine when i got it. But now i am having major problems with it shaking at mid rpms. Like it will shake like no body's business i can see the engine move a good inch forward and back. When sitting on the go kart and driving when you hit those rpms its incredibly hard to control it because it shakes so much. I was wondering if anybody had any suggestions on what the problem could be. I am thinking that it could be the carburetor but im not sure.

engines shake. tighten the mount bolts and if it still shakes bad add some rubber grommets

I heard that the rubber grommets are bad cause they actually allow the engine to move over time. but i never tried it so...who knows. just thought id add that.

If you have a slotted engine mount to adjust tension on the drive line, then yes, they will allow it to move over time. But, if they are just single holes, then there would be no problem.
