5hp briggs timing advance

anyone know how i can advance my timing on a 5hp briggs? thanks

What you need to do is buy a flywheel key, which will effectivly advance your timing by moving your flywheel forward. They're cheap (like a few bucks), and you can get them in varying degrees (anywhere from 2 to like 8).

Someone else may know specifics but difference is very noticeable in power and rpm. Higher octane fuel may be necessary.

I've been looking all over the web, and haven't found them. Went to Napa, Cooks hardware, and True Value. Nottathing. I'm not sure whether I am blind, or what. Pretty frustrating.

Actually, I have found some online, but they are either not for my Tecumseh, or I can't get any specs at all.

Tecumseh's rarely have any hop up parts. Offset keys are considered that.

None that I know of. You could always try to make your own... shave them yourself.

Just remember, the more advance you go, the more the chance of needing higher octane gasoline.
