5hp Briggs Problems

I went through the briggs on my go-kart and it accually runs worse now, i got a master rebuild kit so replaced the rings all the gaskets and went through the carb. i replaced the carb pump diapragm whch was ripped up and had a huge hole in it, but surprsingly it ran pretty good but died when the trottle was let off. I also shaved the eyebrows and proted the intake side a little. The set screw is set to 2 1/2 turns out. The current running problem is that when i rev the throttle it dies unless i rev it very slowely. But as soon as i get it reved above idle it screams up untill it hits govener then it spits and sputters Any idea. Any information would help.

just fixed the problem by changing out the the worn diaphragm and the gasket between the carb and gas tank. and tightening all the bolts connecting the carb to the block and carb to gas tank as tight as possible for no air leaks .
