Just bought a silver streak mini cart for my son. Frame is good need engine been sitting 3 yrs. I want to put a 212 predator on it with a clutch. I know the sprocket needs to be on the other side. I have access to a welding shop at work. Also on a tight budget. So I will fabricate everything I can. I need a good motor clutch axel combo to get me started. Can I use thi axel and flip it over. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Looks like you could flip that axle over.
You need to find out what Chain and Sprocket Size it is.

But a good gear ratio Axle to Clutch would be 6 to 1

That cant be the stock engine on that can it?

looking up silver streak i see 50cc with 10-12mph max speed! That sucks.

Almost looks like there is a trany on that engine? or just a big covered up clutch? I'm somewhat new to karting so it looks strange to me still :) could be normal

oh says reduced gear clutch

and also Single wheel drive? that might be a problem. no just flipping axle. need to flip wheel hubs etc too.

What in Outer-space do you see in the picture that says single wheel drive?
He will have to take the hubs off anyway.

It is single wheel because one wheel spins feast the other doesn't I was thinking mabye I could weld the other wheel to the axel also

We NEVER recommend EVER welding anything to the axle.
But yes there may be a Good easy way to make it stick.

Possibly duplicating how the other is attached?
Using a Key and Cutting a keyway slot in the axle?
Drill and pin.
We will need some pics of the disassembled current set up.

One thing to consider is. A Live axle does not always steer as easily. They tend to want to push straight when you are trying to turn.
So whatever you do, You want to be sure it is easily reverseable back to one wheel drive if handling become an issue.

I think I would leave the axle alone and run a jack shaft. I see disc brakes, so if you flip the axle you have to move the caliper to the other side, too.

In this picture, you can see a jackshaft being used. You could use it to get the correct gear ratio, too. They sell jack shaft kits all over the internet.

The issue with GC engines is the exhaust points towards the seat; yes, you can use a cane style header pipe to deflect the exhaust but, you still have a heat issue directly behind the seat...
