I went garage sailing my stepdad and I bought this for $50. It is a Path Winder 2 seater. Came with a 5hp briggs and a parts bin. I can make a seat for free. I am gonna sand it down, paint it (the paint is chipping away), maybe convert it to one seat for more room, and solid axle. It will be so easy to convert. The tires are on a 1in keyed shaft, the shaft dosent go all the way across, all I need to do is slide in a new 1in axle, no mods no welding, or weld a peice of thick pipe to connect the axles. I have a 5hp briggs with no gov that is ready to go in. I will try to salvage the clutch, or convert to a comet 30 series (I happen to have 2 lying around haha). Im thinkin yellow paint job. This will be my winter project and set all others aside. Also, my stepdad picked up a $200 golf cart and a $25 quad. Ill get pics when he picks them up.

I am gonna convert it to a one seater, it shouldn't be to hard. I am gonna move the gas petal mount all the way to the left, grind off the welds for the steering colum and weld it to the bar that runs in the center of the floorboard. Then I am gonna sand it down and paint it. I welded some sheet metal where it cracked. I had the motor started (Not the one that came with it) And the gas tank has a small leak JB welded it it drips gas so I will use the one from the parts motor. If I have traction problems I have 2 rototiller tires that are the same size that can go one the rear.

On the solid axle it different than I thought. the axle runs all the way down but on the right end the axle steps down to 3/4 and the right rear tire rides on bearings. I am gonna take a peice of tubing 1in od 3/4 id and my stepdad will mill a keyway on his brothers Bridgeport. Then I will bevel the ends and weld the pipe to the shaft and then grind them smooth. Then I will buy a 1in live axle hub with 4 bolt pattern and be ready to drive. The clutch is max- torque that was rusted up. I had a max torque clutch with a 35 chain, but this is a 40. I only used the drum and sprocket from the clutch that came with it, and used all the other better parts including the bushing than lubed it up. That saved me $40, the clutch that came with it was rusted up and ruined.

Sorry for typing so much.

I mounted the motor and took it for a test drive before I start modding it. It needs a live axle bad. Ill pull the motor and work on it tonight.

I put a rototiller tire on the rear. I bought 2 at a garage sale 2 years ago for $5 with lots of tread. By chance they were the same size as the go kart. Ill put one on the other side soon. The split rims are so hard to get off the tire it took forever. I dident have enough gas to test the new tire so ill haft to wait to see the difference.

I swapped the leaking gas tank out. The previous owner did a governor delete, (This motor was on my $80 manco dingo), the hole was plugged with a bolt. It has what looks to be a store bought throttle linkage for no governor. So I know its done right.I need to buy an air filter for it. The original racing foam filter is destroyed. The adapter is almost 2.5in. Idk where im gonna find on for it. Any help would be appreciated. They are repaving our road so its closed to most traffic. Score for riding go karts. The work is not being dont by the town, so the workers dont care. For now I am gonna repaint the floorboard for now.

That's very interesting- It basically is a live axle kart, with one side factory disabled. That's a big bonus for you, makes converting it cheap and easy!

Yea, Im gonna buy a 1inch live axle hub and make the spacer out of 1in od 3/4 id tubing and make the keyway on the schools Bridgeport. I got into metal fabrications in grade 9 because I got recommended from by brother. Nice.

Start a thread of your own under the discussion section. You will probably get a couple more answers to your questins that way

Hi,

This is unrelated to your thread, but THANK YOU so much for helping to identify the kart I posted questions about a few days ago. I had searched and searched and searched some more but still had never come across the sidewinder name. Now I can accurately search for parts etc.

So, thanks again!!
