I picked this bike up for $50 on CL. As you can see it must of been a coast bike or never cleaned after riding in the ocean. I must say when I got home I said why did I buy this bike.

I took the carb apart and cleaned the whole carb and parts - floats and gsaskets in boiling lemon juice for 20 minutes. (Works every time)

I was able to rip up and down the street at that point. The plastics and tank are toast. I can save the plastic but the tank is beyond my skills to fix.

Parts needed in the end? tank, seat cover, front fender, will need a front tire for it is weather beat.

Here are some pics and my progress so far.

The collection is growing

Bike is looking good. I would recover the seat and paint the plastic. Buy a nice used tank and new tire. Good buy

I just gota nice used tank from a rm50. I was hoping they would be the same size and there were thanks God.

This bike is now going to go with a miltary them support the troops bike.

It will be painted miltary green with white star decals. The seat will be recovered it waterproof miltary green meterial stolen from the back of a miltary jacket. The fork tubes will have a miltary man in fatiques decal. Maybe some miltary style side bags. Where the headlight goes will be a miltary ammo box fitted to the fork tubes. The headlight will be mounted in or on the ammo box. I have a miltary shoval and its case to mount also.

If you are wondering why I am going miltary????

The white MX80 that I just restored is a family bike. Being I am 40 and my adopted brother is 14 the MX80 is all rights should be his.

Okay I admit I feel in love with the bike I rode 20 years ago and want to keep it nice. So I bought this DS80 to fix up for my little brother the strash on. But

There is more to the story. Long story but lets just say my bro is not all there and missing a few nuts and bolts. He lives near a National guard Armery and spends coutless hours there doing things. He has a huge collection of miltary stuff. Some real cool stuff from overseas. Anyway he will love this bike and I love doing themes related builds like it my Bar Stool Racer.

Stay tuned this is going to be a cool little bike my little bro will ride in many parades.

You could probably solder a patch on that tank.

I counted over 100 pin holes in the tank. And that was just one side. If you look close this tank is toast. I got a used one for $42 to my door. It has some minor dents but very little rust inside. Good tank that I do not have to kreem coat.

Great bike! Nice job on fixing it up. I had the 1980 DS100 when I was a kid. What an awesome bike... I wish I still had it. 8(

Thanks man. This bike is still running strong. You can't kill them. Also the bike now has about 200 signatures from Vets. Got a reward in a parade as well.

those little suzuki's go so hard!, i remember when i was a kid growin up one of my mates had one, always used to tear it up on them, bike looks mean, good work!

Looks like mine but with mine the chrome is gone so instead i had work sandblast and i painted them semi gloss black, gives the bike a real stealth look, infact i tell ya what ill put a thread on it, since i havn't posted one in a while!

Cheers, Cam.
