5 hp briggs cutting off

I recently got a go kart with a 5 horse briggs on it. I cleaned and rebuilt the carborator and put a new rewind assembly on
Went to fire it up and managed to get it started. Cut the choke back and it seemed to idle okay but when I give it gas it bogs down and cuts off. But with the choke at lets says 80% I can wind it out and it sounds great. I know the clutch works I replaced all the Carb gaskets minus the one netween the Carb and the block as it was in good shape. So what are my potential problems here. Thanks in advance

Lean, meaning a bad gasket such as that which was not replaced.
Could also be a carb problem. Too much air in the fuel/air mix.
No amount of choke is needed on a properly set up and sealed induction system once it has warmed up sufficiently.

Yeah I knew I shouldn't have to choke it. Could trash or water cause this too?

Water would be the first thing i would of said if you told me in person.

I bet it is that gasket because you are not getting enough fuel or to much air.

When you rebuilt the carb did you set the mixture screw to the 1.5 turn base setting?

I did indeed. I have cleaned out the tank as well. There is no water very little dirt. I don't think(and my father agreed) that it would be enough to really have an effect. Next step is to check my gasket I suppose.

Wasn't the gasket. My armature air gap was way off I adjusted the mixture. And now she's purrs like a kitten a loud bad a** kitten. I still believe there may have been a little trash in the Carb but it seems to have filtered out. Thanks guys
