Here is my dilemma. I am building a CT200U with a Predator 420CC and a 40 series TC. The TC now has a 10T sprocket and the wheel has a 50T sprocket, which gives me a 5:1 ratio with 19" tires. With about 4000RPM to play with that is about 45MPH, or way faster that I will ever take this bike.

My question is with a 5:1 ratio am I going to be burning up belts left and right riding on street alone? I do not plan to off road it as it will get street tires only, or should I look for either a smaller jackshaft sprocket or a bigger wheel sprocket? I like the way the 50T sprocket looks and do not seem to be able to find a 9T 420 chain sprocket for the 3/4in shaft.

Thanks,

My granddaddy buggy has 5.45 :1 sprocket ratio with a 420/40 series and 18.5" Tires
You've got plenty ratio to spare.

All good in the hood brother.

Keep in mind that 5:1 is the top end ratio; your takeoff ratio will be more like 15:1. I don't think it's going to be a problem.

Appreciate the reassurance, I will leave the sprockets as is... The 420cc has the stage 1 kit so hopefully it will still have plenty of oomph to get that adrenaline level up :)

no belt issues. I run my 30 hp stroker on a 40 series with the same gear ratio and the same tire size. ran the same belt for a year. It definitely spins the belt in overdrive while accelerating though ehhhh. yeah so if you are running the 420 predator with a stage one, the general hp rating will be about 18!! vroom vroom! go have some fun and dont worrya bout it. The only thing you gotta worry about is not flipping your bike when you hit the gas.
