January of 2012 I started building it with rear steering hubs, wheels/tires and the guts from a hydrostatic transaxle out of a Noma 4 wheel steer lawn tractor. I used gokart sprockets from Northern Tool. With a limited budget and health problems I worked on it on and off into March of 2012. I was doing it in the basement of the house we are in which has 3 apartments. I think my noise with the drill and some cutting upset one tenant or so, so I had to move it all to my storage. I have not been able to work on it since then. I'm building it so I can ride something in the winter time and get exercise. Once built, I plan to make a blade for the front so I can plow the sidewalk. I need to build 2 jackshafts with sprockets for #41 chain. I'm hoping to get back to finishing it this summer.

Very cool concept, lucky you found AWS knuckles. Me being a mower guy i have my eyes peeled for aws axles and never find anything. id really strengthen that frame, id hate to see it taco.

Great concept but, there are so many red flags I don't even know where to start...
I also agree that the frame isn't quite up to scratch, there are, literally, weak points everywhere, not to mention the massive stack of washers on the axle; what's that about?
I'm not trying to rag on your work or put you down, we just take safety very seriously here...

Bolting the frame together also creates too many weak points. You also need to have the correct grade of bolt for it to work properly and not shear off

Well its "pedal powered" so its not going to be going fast or have to handle much frame stress. I'm on a very limited budget and I don't have a welder so this is how I'm doing it. If something breaks, then I will fix and strengthen it. I originally was going to use a little 3 speed with reverse gearbox from an old riding mower, coupled to a snow blower right angle gearbox. Instead I'm going to buy a Comet reverse gearbox for it. The washers on the axle was my way with my limited budget to keep things spaced properly. I just found all the emails from this site in my spam box. I kept wondering where the emails were. Hopefully no more replies go into my spam.
In the 90s there were several companies making 4ws lawn tractors:
MTD, sold under many of their brands like Yard Man and others. Their tractors had 4 bolt rear wheels and an axle that was f-n-r but not a really strong axle.
Noma who was bought out by Murray in the mid 90s. They were sold under the names of: Noma Sears Scotts Stanley Ingersol and several other brand names I can't remember. In Australia they were sold under the Viking name. I will try and dig up other brand names they were sold under. All the Noma versions had 3 bolt rear wheels.
Kubota, Honda and John Deere also had 4 wheel steer tractors but sourcing parts from them will be more expensive.
Another route to go would be using front ends or front end parts from 4 wheel drive ATVs. Other machines to consider but not on the top of my list would be trenching machines and Asian built 4wd compact utility tractors.
I am not understanding all the RAGB, jackshafts and TC's if this is going to be pedaled
What are "RAGB & TC? I don't have the $$$$$ to do a shaft drive or any other version. Including Comet reverse gearbox I'm going to be spending at least another $400 on this project.

Even a forward reverse seems a bit over the top for a pedal kart. I have only evr heard of them being used on karts with engines
