49cc go kart for under $200 lol

im in the process of creating a 49cc go kart, making the frame and everything in school, all that will be left for me to do at home will be putting the engine in.
so far i have
wheels (2 pocket rocket wheels,2 removalist trolley wheels+mini quad wheels)
a 15mm axle (for the removalist trolley wheels)
axle with sprocket+brake disc
a large seat
2 disc brake set ups (one on each pocket rocket wheel, wicked skids planned lol)
throttle and brake cables
so far spent about $130
the frame i have started in school and am close to welding stage.
if anyone has done anything similar to this feel free to comment with some photos or tips as i dont have any experience with this stuff.

Okay, well if you get a lawnmower engine just search it on the site here, it has been done quite a bit and fully documented, even a video or two on youtube. Trust me, I ahve converted a vertical shaft lawnmower engine, and it is easy.

pocket rocket motor

i got my pocket rocket from my dads and started pullin it apart, the whole shell is off as well as fuel tank (which wasnt securely attached to motor, and the spark plug wasnt in properly either, i will try starting it again tomorrow) also the sprocket is a 6t so i dont need to buy one...... but the motor still isnt working and ive got a few photos of it, doesnt look the best, please comment if you have any input on what may be wrong
thanks josh
p.s it was free and yes its a lilttle old, but the brakes etc all work so even if i cant use the motor its still fairly good for $0

As long as it's turning freely you can just go by the basic two stroke repair wisdom. Spark Compression and Fuel.

I.E. Make sure the plug has a nice beefy spark. If not, spark plug may be stuffed, coil maybe gone, condensor maybe dead if they have them and if they have points they may need resetting

Make sure the engine is holding compression (I have a quad version with the same engine and the compression is quite high to the point where you lift it in the air trying to start it).

Third you need to make sure the carby is clean on the inside and that fuel is getting through it. If not take it apart and clean it all out with fuel but dont forget how to put it back together

thanks but i have one question, how close is the watchamacall it lol (electrode?)on the spark plug supposed to be? because it was close enough i could barely fit some wetndry in

nd also i think its watercooled, can anyone verify this?

its definatly got compression, but the fuel line doesnt connect to the engine and the fuel cap and thread broke off.
so im probably not gunna use the engine..... gives me time to find a bigger one lol

heres some more photos also shows how they will be attached to go kart i will be welding in a brace and then welding it onto the go kart frame.

just bought one of these for $110 off ebay..... http://www.diytrade.com/china/4/products/1552652/Mini_Quad_49CC_ST49.html
will be using axle off it (does anyone know if theres a way to put pocket rocket wheels on that axle?)
below are some photos of the store room at school and theres one of what i may be using for the steering (but 1)i think the tube is too thin and 2) i think theres too much of a gap)

Regarding the spark plug gap (the electrode whatchamacallit thingy), a safe starting point should be about 0.030". You'll have to look it up for the exact spec, but this should be close.
