48V 1800W Kit motor direction

I'll go ahead and apologize as I'm sure this has already been answered elsewhere - but I've been unable to find anything.

I connected pretty much everything, and it all seems to be working fine. However, the motor is spinning the wrong direction. I found on one of the wiring diagrams at electricscooterparts.com that reversing the green and blue wires would would reverse the motor direction - but that didn't happen. After reversing the wires and attempting to spin up the motor, the motor moved briefly and made sort of a grinding sound, things heated up pretty quick too.

I removed power and hooked the green and blue wires back to their respective counterparts and all seems to be working as it was - spinning the wrong direction.

I know I should be able to reverse this thing, just not sure how.

Watched a few seconds of that video and literally haven't been able to understand a single word. Doesn't seem to be English?

Sorry guy, I never actually listened to it but you can see what wires he swaps.
I couldn’t understand him either, but visually the vid will help you. You can zoom in on the two throttle wires he switched and can see the two of the larger three he changed.

well it's fairly simple really..

you have a BLDC motor (brushless..)
means you have a set of three wires to the motor winding

SWAP TWO (any two.. )
and the motor will run in the opposite direction

just assume the coils are in ABC order.. you want CBA as a result
swapping any two coils makes
ABC -> BAC
or ACB
or CBA
and as you can see wrapping any of these around you always end up with CBA (reverse rotation)

Hmm, I did do this, by swapping blue and green, which seemed to get it into an unhappy state (the grinding sound, jerked once, then drew high current but no movement).

Maybe I'll try to give the give the video a watch too, and then give it another shot. Unfortunately I'll be out of town the next few days so I won't be able to get back to it for a bit.

...connect the thick blue motor wire to thick green controller wire
…& the thick green motor wire to thick blue controller wire
...keep thick yellow motor wire connected to the thick yellow controller wire

Then, on the 5 wire plug (thin wires) swap the blue & yellow wires

Yep! Picking up kids from camp and while waiting I was looking through more videos. I neglected to swap the sensor wires too. My apologies. I knew it was something simple.

I'll give this a shot on Monday when we get home but I'm betting this gets it.

Did you read the wiring and programming instructions at https://electricscooterparts.com/hookup/SPD-481500BLDC.pdf ?

Instead of switching wires, use "self-learning wires" to program the controller unless you bought the wrong controller.

my1020 is nothing but a size denomination (case style)
and sure one could've googled the controller and looked at several pics or it's documents (as far as available)
but especially with chinesesium stuff part numbers can be shared between very different items sometimes, so even that might not be trustworthy in the end.

So frankly.. yeah a simple pic containing both (numbers and connections) is far easier and way more reliable for us to work with.

Nevermind, Kevin got your back and added the missing clue..
(i.e. to swap the sensor wires as well)
