ok well here is what its going to be in the end.

small Rx3 "Go - mobile"

wheelbase 4ft wide by 6ft deep.

4ft tall

500 some-odd pounds

something like that...

first pic to show base of idea,
second to show similar motor,
third for base size comparison.

Uhh,how much did the sled weigh that the engine came from? What was its top speed in stock form? That's how fast you will be going.....
EDIT you're gonna put a sled engine in that car? Ok? Y not get a 5 or 6 speed street bike engine in the 600-1000cc range? You will be much happier with the performance than that sled engine.....

well the reason i want to use the 440cc and not the 600-1000cc is because i dont happen to have $600-1000 laying around.
the project is being constructed on the very tightest budget.

I would love to make some 200-400hp hayabusa monster motor go in there, but my budget wont allow it.

More specs:

4, 3" travel shocks on front end,
2, 4-5" travel shocks in rear,
custom fabricated diff, with an LSD,
front to rear drive shaft (anyone know where to get one of those?),
'82 camaro seats, left and right (back omitted),
manual rack&pinion steering from some ford,
steering wheel from some ford (maybe a taurus),
And more to come!

I have personally put a busa engine in a vw rabbit, and the best way to go about doing it is to have a machine shop make an adapter to bolt the cars flywheel to the engine then use the cars transmission and rear end

ok i am creating a 1/2-3/4 scale car, it is not a pre developed machine. it is a creature that has yet to be made. the snowmobile does not have a transmission.

Is this to be a street legal machine. This sounds like a cool car for the shows, I know cause I take my bike there( it isn't street legal, yet), but this starting to sound like a highly modified car, approaching the boundaries of being legal.

I only say this as I'm having a **** of a time trying to see what the regs are for the same, but a bike.

Making a home built car legal here in the greatest state know to (any smart ) man, Texas, it has to meet bumper height requirements, have DOT certified lights, brakes, horn, windscreen, seat belt.... Everything a production car would have from factory. And it IS possible to make said "car" legal, as I've seen a vw beetle shrunk to the size of a big @$$ go kart. It still used the vw drive train and front suspension, but shortened by about 3 feet....

Here in Kansas, which is the greatest state known to everybody except those from Texas it's fairly easy to get a home built car legal, it has to be a minimum width and have lights, signals, a horn and seat belts

OK, then why don't you explain the phenomena of some guy named Doug? You've already admitted his existence, and that he lives somewhere fairly close by to you. That has to cancel out your claim at least two or three to one........

no, this is not to be a street legal machine, its gonna be a trailer baby, probably used down at the stave lake trails (big mud pit with little dirt roads, for all else). I intend to have safety equipment (seatbelts, proper seats, Etc.), full roll cage, sidemirrors, and a big red button kill switch. more of a rally car than road car.

Why not look into getting an adapter made to mate the 440 to a vw irs transaxle..... From an old bug. Cut the axles to shortest, so it will fit in your ride..... 4 forward gears and reverse. More than enough power from said engine to push half a car around..... Fast.....
Flip the r&p and make it mid mounted. Better weight distribution for hitting the trails.....

ok, i understand what you are saying and I agree that it would work for another kind of vehicle, but I want it to have an FR layout (front engine/rear wheel drive) not MR or RR :/

Im thinking of putting a motorcycle transmission in there, like the ones those belted Harleys have, but hook it up straight rather than belted-like.. :auto:

Couple questions, then maybe a couple ideas....
First is it gonna be chain drive like a kart or are you using a auto rear end? What's your budget?

A big twin(non unitized) Harley trans here, is likely going to be min $3k. Need to have a oil pump and being an enclosed vehicle might need a cooling rad for it.
