Starting to do my research on 420cc engines. Is the predator 420cc a good option? Searched here and saw a lot of mentions of $180 Powerland 420cc from eBay but can’t seem to find them for sale

This Duromax has my attention, cheaper than the predator and more HP... sounds like a winner.... right?

For what? What kind of kart and how will it be used?
Just picked up this Manco two seater, would like to throw on something with torque. I would be happy with top speed around 35mph. Plan would be to mate it with a 40 series. Already have a 50mph cart with a built 212. Just want something with decent power and reliability. Don’t plan to mod (ok... maybe remove governor)

The 420 would be a riot on that kart IMO.

Another cheaper option might be to get a 30 series TC for the Tecumseh you have now and upgrade the carb. That would set you back maybe $75.

I thought I read somewhere that the main difference between an OHH50 and an OHH65 (6.5hp) was the carburetor. A 30% power boost for the cost of a $20 carb wouldn't be bad. Tecs have weak rods though, so I wouldn't disable the governor on it.

Currently has a 30 series, just toying with options for winter time upgrade.

thanks for the carb tip! I will look into that for sure!

The power land model which is a pd420 isn’t available anymore. It was with a electric start version a few months ago but I haven’t seen that one available either lately even on the direct power land website.

I’m suggesting you not remove the governor without supporting internal mods on any big block style engine due to they don’t like high rpm use at all. They are built for down low torque not higher Rpm use without serious internal mods or a time bomb without stuff done.

Thanks for the info on the governor/rpm, maybe I will go with the duromax for the added power over the predator.
