Is it the belts, or the chain? Your picture only shows half the problem. As stated by Denny, we need a good overview, and a bit more information about what exactly is the problem.
Have you tried rotating the whole assembly back toward the big sprocket and bolting it back to the engine?
It looks like you might have a crossmember in the way where it is now.
Wow it sure got quiet here... But since this one is titled "40 Series" I guess Ill bring it back.
K so Ive got a mild 301 pushing a cart that's like maybe 300 or 400 lbs with 2 people and I've probably got it to like 6 or 7 before but that doesn't matter. What the problem is is my 40 series is totally engaging at like idle so it takes off kinda on its own when the engines barely running. But a bigger problem is when you give it gas it engages like right then so you get no revving up for the powerband on the cam I have. And I have seen the 2600 stall kits on gopowersports too. On the comet tc manual it says if you go with the light weights and red springs you can get up to 3100 stall that's what I want but I dont think the light weights exist cause I cant find em anywhere. Also is there a good driven spring that matches well with the 2600 stall kit? It has the red one rn. I guess what im asking is if the 2600 rpm stall fixed anyones problems for that bogging down when you push on the gas or if I need to make my own light weights or something. It feels like its got no power cause it cant rev up to get any but it also stays engaged so you cant stop really unless you shut the engine off. I want it to launch off the line really hard is the goal here.
Go to OMB Warehouse. They have the light weights and stiffer springs for the driver. They also have the reverse wound spring for the driven. You need this to keep it from opening up instantly like it is doing. Put everything in and I garuntee it will put a BIG smile on your face. I also have a kart ( Manco Intruder ) with a hopped up 301 with the formentioned parts in the clutch. The thing not only runs hard, but it comes off the line from a dead stop like you wouldn't believe.
