40 series comet torque converter problems

Hi guys, I think I might be having issues with my torque conver pulley. Its a comet 40 series an im having issues going up hill like its not in gear...the pulley is 2 years old an hardly ever uesd please help.

How does your belt look? The top width should be no less than 7/8"can you describe it a little more and take pictures from a few different angles?

I kind of think its the torque converter, it drives fine when you first use it but after it gets hot an you drive it for awhile the problems begin.

maybe your gear ratio is off..
especially if you want to climb hills, you can't gear for "top speed"
not even with a torque converter.

So, post pics, and if you want to make it easier for us to tell;
count the sprocket's teeth and tell us about the rear wheel diameter and total weight estimation of the kart (passengers incl).

Im pretty sure the torque converter is the problem...I even sprayed wd40 in the torque converter an it started driving fine again for a while but once the wd40 wore off it was acting up again.

What did you slather with the WD? If it was the belt, then no matter what you'll need a new one, even if the actual problem is some thing else. WD40 eats rubber products, such as drive belts. The only reason it seemed to run better was because the belt got sticky. then the sticky part got stripped off, making the original issue just as bad if not worse than it was before.

Well although Poboy has a rather rude tone,
he as well has a good point in his comment.

spraying wd40 on a TC is not a smart move at all..
as machinist said, it'll instantly ruin the belt; it can also wash off the internal lube;
and cause all sorts of nasty effects.

So, now the important thing for you to do is a full maintenance on your TC.
(take it all apart, clean it thoroughly, and use nothing but drylube on the internals)
if you need a step by step instruction, just ask, we will provide all the info needed.

Question remains:
what's the weight of the kart (estimate) and what's the wheel size and gear ratio;
if that's off, nothing will help to solve the original issue but to correct the gear ratio.
