301cc/GX240/GX270 Billet Flywheel with Electric Start??

Hello

I was wondering if anyone has ran into or knows a work around for a billet flywheel for the 301/240/370 that has the ring gear/magnets. I added electric start to my 301cc predator, and I would like to put a performance kit on it, but everywhere i look says that I will die if I dont have a flywheel.

Removing the electric start would not be an option as I use the generator for lights and recharging the battery. Is there absolutely any way to keep the electric start on my 301 and have a billet flywheel?

Also, do I even need a billet flywheel?

I apologize, it is not a generator. I use the "charging" system (i.e the magnets and coils) to charge my go-kart battery,lights, switches, etc.. So i would like to keep it it having that.

Not necessarily needed, depends on the degree of performance...
Typically speaking... a con rod is a must for most post gov delete performance upgrades... but depends...

I am looking at NR racing hop up kit stage 3, it would consist of a 306 cam, springs, a connecting rod, a bigger carb, and a timing key. I have already degoverned it.

I plan on getting a connecting rod, and I would buy a flywheel if they had the electric start ring gear on one of them, but I can’t seem to find a billet one anywhere.

Where I ride is a bunch of open fields, so I would could be at WOT for a bit. After those upgrades, that’s about it.. would you say that a stock flywheel would suffice?

Could you explain a bit more? Where did you need to clearance?

Stage 3 is a fairly serious upgrade. I did see a billet flywheel somewhere with a starter ring gear on it but I don't think it had the charging system magnets built into it. I'm not sure you will even find something like that. Billet parts are built for strength. Adding extra magnets to a billet flywheel defeats that purpose. But maybe you can find something. Let us know. I think ARC has some with a ring.

Could you explain a bit more? Where did you need to clearance?

I used a angle grinder and I installed it and checked clearances that way. And used a sharpie to mark it where I went. I originally said it cleared but to be safe it was rubbing so I clearanced it still.

The lip on top of the block was for the arc rod and one cam lobe was ground down quite a bit on about 25% of it.

I think I showed the install on my mini me dragbike build from the 2016 build off. Start at thread post #226. I do show the block spot to be cleaned up.

Also just my opinion, but any time you start using parts that requires clearance cutting then it becomes a serious upgrade as well. Not that it's particularly difficult, but it still needs to be done with a certain degree of perfection.

Well, I didn’t know that I would have to clearance stuff. But if I do and it’s minor I don’t have a problem. Do you know roughly what upgrades get what rpms?

Hey there,

I have a Predator 301cc and I want to put electric start on it. I don't need it to charge anything; I'll be using a portable battery pack. But I don't know what starter fits, and google and amazon are coming up blank. What starter did you use and where can I get it? I have an ignition pack off a 670, so all I need is the starter motor.
