Well I will stick with briggs and stratton, kohler, and honda. Now for the snowblower. Idk what to do. get another motor? This thing is for re-sale. If I haft to buy another motor there will be a slim profit margin. I dont think you can do much to help the bottom end. May haft to scrap that tecumseh with the other 2 blown up tecumsehs.

You're right about the profit. Just set it aside and keep your eyes peeled for parts or a cheap engine. When it comes along, flip it for what you can get.

Yea once in awile you can find a cheap engine on craigslist for $20. But the problem it needs to be around the same time period. Then I could transfer all the parts to it like carb and exhaust and It will look factory. I got until winter to finish it, so ill be good. No one wants a snowblower in the middle of summer lol.

im not saying they run like crap or won't last.(i found an old 2-stroke tecumseh in my barn one day,but at that point in time i didn't know it was a 2-stroke. wish i had though because it still had loads of compression and it looked clean) but i have a power sport and it runs great just alittle hard starting.

From what I can extract from Karl's posts, he has been dealing with worn out (poorly maintained) engines.
I will admit that Tecumseh engines require a little more tweaking and routine maintenance than what might be considered "normal". However, they do (did) produce much more bang for the buck$.
Keep them tuned with regular maintenance and they will out perform any equivalently sized B&S.
I'm surprised Anderkart has not rung in on this issue.

i agree my tecumseh 5.5 kicked my briggs *** when it came to power.
I'll have to see how my new 2 stroke 3HP Tec does. It's sitting in a snowblower at the moment awaiting a test soon here. I'm assuming it's a Tec since the carb is marked Tec. I honestly haven't had enough experience to chime in either way here.

probably bad management. im not sure though id have to look it up. but companies that make great products can go out of business.

It's like a Ford vrs Chevy vrs Moparts. It's never ending.
The briggs on my tillers and lawn stuff works great. The Powersport engines on the yerf dogs I have had problems with. More so with the carbs. I also have a Tec on a snow blower that has ran great for over ten years.
I like them both though. But like Russ said I was dealing with Yerfdogs that were run into the ground with zero up keeping. Not even minor stuff. I pulled the bowl and I can see the last owner used vise grips to work on the carb.
All that being said, A snow blower should have low hours really. Same with tillers for the most part. Mine does for I only use two times a year.

It snows alot where I live in winter, so snowblowers get used alot. Funny you say tillers, I just bought one for $20. Needs some cleaning up and carb clean, and I can sell it for $50+.
Well I got the snowblower running and the bottom end freed up. Im gonna sell it at the start of winter. My plan is gonna be to keep buying crap, fixing it up, and selling it.
They aren't made now. Are you sure about that?
