Looking for a little help. Here recently I have been eating up belts like crazy. One on a mini bike and one on a go kart. I will be honest and I do get them from amazon. But that’s where I have always gotten them from. Everything is lined up straight as an arrow. Not sure why this is starting to happen now, had one on my go kart completely flip over. I have noticed that the driven pulley has been getting hotter than usual. Not sure why that is or if they are even supposed to get hot at all. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Both pulleys get hot. The driver usually a little more than the driven. Have never seen a belt flip over. Are you putting them on with the flat side towards the engine? What size engines are you running?

Yes I’m positive it was on correctly. 196cc on both. Everything has been fine till recently they have been getting eaten up really fast.

I'm sure that Amazon quality could be hit and miss. Maybe you got lucky and got some good ones earlier on, and now you're getting the regular junk they sell. Do like Denny suggest and get the comet belts. There are none better. Hopefully that fixes your problem.

Take the drive clutch apart, clean it up real good and use dry lube. Something could be sticking. Check the spring in the driven clutch also. Premium belts is a must.

It sounds like you guys are treating Scamazon as if they were a manufacturer
No, not really. If you were an un "seasond" enthusast and typed in _____belt, you be overrun with chinese options. Only after an education from Denny would you be aware of another option. I'm not a big fan of Amzon and l may be totally wrong, but l'm playing the grumpy old fuxx card and stickin toit!

Well yeah, that's right. Denny is our lawd and save-yer(arse). But being a guy that makes mistakes, learns from them and does become seasoned over time, I'd genuinely finally say I'm tired of these garbage Chinesium belts! and try something that's OEM. Hey, it's likely to happen. 😁

Unfortunately Scamazon isn't the only online retailer flooded with cheap Chinese copies of better domestic parts. They are everywhere!

Hellion, totally agree. Once you've been around the block a few times ( go karts or practically any hobby ) and know exactly what you want, Amazon and other on line retailers can at times offer a savings. For the new B's that don't know for sure what they want, or how to tell the difference between quality and junk, I always try to recommend ( and honestly believe ) they'd be better off dealing with one of the major kart supply shops. Too many people rush to Amazon first thing, blindly.

Many thanks to Denny for being absolutely relentless on Comet belts. It's one thing to say it once and be done with it, and most people can remember good advice they've been given, but that one advisement on this forum can and will be buried and obscured very easily, even without the 50 new spam threads we get per day.

had one on my go kart completely flip over....

Would love to have seen that (a belt twisted or flipped over). Got pics of these problem torque converters themselves? It might be obvious or not so obvious what is happening and why. They may need maintenance, etc.

Use only Genuine COMET BELTS!!!!

This should be in your signature, good sir.
