I was driving my yerf dog yesterday and my 30 series fixed sheave broke( see photo). I know I will obviously have to replace it but I'm not sure if the movable sheave (seen in the same photo) is damaged enough to warrant a replacement. I am using this converter on a ungoverned predator 212cc with stage 1 mods. I know it puts out about 9 hp and the 30 series is only rated to 8 but I can't find a 40 series that will work with my engine. The engine shaft is 3/4 in and the clutch shaft is 5/8.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I thought the torque converter had to be held to fine tolerances and cant just be welded back together?

Thanks

It would have to be done properly. Probably jigged up on a lathe and welded, then turns back down for balance and such.

Possible yes. That's why I mentioned a machine shop. Not the neighbors garage.

It will cost just as much to weld as to buy a new driver. Just buy a new one and save the issue of it not working after welding it.

personally I'd just buy a new fixed (say from mfgsupply) and smooth the moveable sheave with some sandpaper.

make it as smooth as possible. I think you should be good then.

Thanks. Luckily the fixed is only like 15 bucks. Glad I don't have to buy a move able too! I think it would just brake again if I weld it. I am a 1- 1 1/2 hp over its stated limit.

that didn't break because of the additional few horses...

The series 30 on this forum have seen upwards of 10 horse...
heck supermanotorious has succesfully bolted one to a 420 predator.
