30 series belt wear?

Bare with me as this is my first go kart. Got my sons Dingo up and running and probably got about 5 solid hours of run time on it now. I've noticed a little bit of black specs aka parts of the belt on the Torque Converter plate that is bolted to the engine. When I look at the belt it looks fine, but it's also the cheap Chinese belt that came with the knock off 30 series kit. I'm just wondering on average how long do belts normally last? I don't think I have a wear problem, but then again only one way to find out and that's keep running it till it breaks.

Sometimes you are lucky and those Chinese belts last a long time. It is hard to tell with them because of the quality variation in them. Generally they don't last too long

noticed the china stuff uses belts that are a few MM narrower and also aren't kevlar enforced. Best to just buy the comet belt and shim the driver to accept the bigger belt. 1 standard washer was enough for mine. I only run them 300 ft or so but My plate and all are solid black dust by the end of the day. They slip a lot with the 30 series design at power. Tiny bit of dust like your getting is nothing IMO.

I have a 300 lb kart with a 250 lb rider and 20" tall rear tires, powered by a stage 1 Predator 212. It had 6" driver and 6" driven clutches when the clone belt went out

The clone belt lasted 10-15 hrs with this heavy load and mostly offroad (muddy) track driving.

The info on the Comet belt sleeve shown below will be helpful if you want to order a Comet belt that will fit your setup... you will need it eventually.

I took the opportunity to upgrade to a 7" driven clutch and the proper Comet belt for the jackshaft CD measurement as shown on the Comet belt sleeve.
