This is my 1966 Cub Cadet 102, I spent the last two yrs building, It's what i did before i wanted to make a go-kart, It's got a Kohler 12hp. , I chucked the deck! also has a upper and lower drive shalf! I can change the ratio for speed and for pulling, using a #41 chain and sproket! i started out with a #35 chain because thats all i had on hand, and it blew it apart!!! with the 3 speed trans i can run through all three gears (3rd gear has a wide range) and keep up with cars on the road (20 mph zone)! after some little changes, and still using the gov. i don't plan on removing it either! I had a friend ride along side me in his truck, I asked him to let me know if i hit 30! It did'nt take long and he gave me the thumbs up when i hit 30, and i let off. The steering is way too touchy! little scary!! It takes corners well with the duals, it will throw me off before it turns over!
Only problem is i can't down shift i have to come to a complete stop to shift into first, It has no problm taking off in 3rd. but is hard on the clutch!
Oh yeah and it's weighing in at 780lbs! without weights, 900lbs with (for pulling)!!
So you can see the before and after, took alittle bit of time, but it was fun! The 2nd pic you can see the belt coming off the clutch to the lower shaft going to a 40t sprocket! I can plow dirt with my 6 ft wide rear blade and the belt never slips! I was kinda shocked i though i would be changing out belts like crazy!!
