Mostly collecting parts and figuring out how to make everything work.

Going to use the rear end of one of the quads, the large sprocket, the smaller sprocket, and the chain to make the jackshaft.

The small sprocket is 14 teeth, the large sprocket is 35. The chain is 1/4 inch thick and the teeth are 1/2 inch from spike to spike.

I have decided to gear it low. Top speed of 30 would be great if they can spin the tires off the line. I'll have to figure out what axle sprocket size and engine sprocket size.

Braces and steering next...

11hp, 1" shaft, 20"rears.

You will need a 40 series Torque Converter and then probably just gear it 6:1

Set on a 40 series from eBay butI haven't ordered it yet...don't know how to gear it 6:1 yet.

The torque converter looks like it is belt driven. If there is a sprocket, I don't see it. I assume it is there though.

I have 2 small sprockets and 2 larger sptockets that will all take the same chain. One small is 14 and the other os a 15 tooth. The larger ones are 35 and 45.

Can I get the power I'm looking for with those? Thinking that I might need to get a 9 or 10 tooth to begin with.

Torque converters dont have gears. Jackshafts do....do a little searching here....(a lot easier than us trying to explain everything to you.)

The torque converter goes from engine to one side of jackshaft , the other side of the jackshaft is small sprocket to axle sprocket w/ chain...make sense?

Thankfully there is a ton of info to read...but I always value other people's experiences.

Found 2 torque converters on ebay. One is $76 has a 1" bore and will take up to a 13hp engine (mine is 11) with a 40/41 chain (what I have). Looks like it has everything.

Another one shows 40 series but doesn't look like a complete set. I'd have to get some other components. That one is $104.

Any thoughts on the one for $76?

Then I saw one for like $350 that was a complete 40 series setup. Big difference.

With a 9 tooth on the jack shaft and 45 on the axle with 20 inch tires gives me a top speed of 42mph.

Cart will probably weigh around 300 lbs with rider.

The $76 TC says it replaces the comet tav2 30 series but it also says it can handle up to 13 hp engine.

Reading that article I sent you is the most info I have on TCs. (Disclaimer)

But fromwhat I have heard here, the cheaper TCs are just like everything else MADE IN CHINA. But they seem to work and do not give people problems.

My thought is when I build my next Kart that is what I am gonna use, cause I could buy 2 and have a spare and still save money!

The 76 dollar one you posted comes with the mounting plate that incorporates a jack shaft and comes with a 10 tooth gear. the other does not.
So with your 45 tooth axle sprocket you are a 4.5:1. Probably too high a gear.
I would assume you need at least 5:1. Even the 5:1 with 11hp and a TC may be iffy. Wait and see who else chimes in. Kart fab will know for sure.
