I think I will be putting my gokart disc brake on the long shaft of my Comet reverse gearbox. The disc brake is for a 1" shaft. The long shaft on the gearbox is 3/4". Also where do I find a narrow shoulder sprocket to fit on the short shaft on the Comet reverse gearbox? I'm thinking I will need it to be about 20 teeth for #41 chain.

I think we had that conversation before a while ago...
But let's just start over shall we...
#41 is about the weakest chain kart worthy,
weaker than a #35,
only about half the strength of a #40!
One disc brake on ONE wheel is much better than one brake on the gear box!
no need to brake on all wheels, brake only the rear axle for example.
that's good enough.
a shaft adapter is (if you insist on mounting the brake to the gearbox) uhm..
-well let's say it the other way around-
why not get a diskhub for a 3/4" shaft instead.. that's more reasonable IYAM
Personally.. if you intend to use it as a pedal kart anyways..
the gearbox is overkill and pointless.
on a pedal kart get a non-freewheel gear and all you need to do is pedal backwards.
And that's much cheaper than your gearbox

Since I have a limited income to work with it has slowed down my purchases of parts. I don't remember off the top of my head all my posts and all of the replies about this project on this forum in the last 6 months. I originally was going to put the disc brake on my 1" jack shaft but I'm thinking it might be better on the Comet shaft since the Comet gearbox has slop. But I'm still not sure how I will do it. The Comet gearbox is already purchased and will not be returned. I think I will appreciate the very low geared reverse which is about 2.5:1. The gear selection will be made from a set of #41 sprockets arranged like the rear sprockets on a 10 speed since 10 speed cassettes are not strong enough for a machine this large,,,, and I'm putting a riding mower snow blade on the front this winter to plow the sidewalk. A derailure setup would be more complicated if I pedaled backwards to do reverse. I chose #41 chain because it can twist more than #40. The carts frame is two pieces and it is made so it can pivot over rough terrain. Since I'm pedaling I really think #41 chain can handle the torque I produce.

I've never had anything other than a Honda ATC 110 but I was a kid at the time and I hardly turned a wrench on it. So I'm definitely in a learning mode about chains and gokart stuff.
