Hey everyone. I recently got ahold of six of these S/R engines. I will be installing one into an older Yerf Dog chassis that will be reworked extensively. My friends and I are building them for a little oval track in my front yard. My biggest hurdle yet is trying to find a clutch(cheap clutch, I don't wanna spend $800 on one) to fit. These engines have a 1-1/8" straight shaft. My quick solution is to install the clutch on the far side of the jackshaft. I purchased a Noram Star to start, time will tell if it will hold. Does anyone know of a different manufacturer that makes either a clutch or a torque convertor setup that will hold the power? Thanks in advance.

I think you'll find the noram star will hold up fine for oval racing as long as you get right up to speed and don't do a lot of low-speed/stop and go type riding where the clutch is constantly having to slip. You could also try a noram enforcer. Its also a 1" bore model but has larger diameter drum/shoes to handle more power.

Welcome. I am not sure if you are going to get anything cheap for the type of engine you have, but anderkart has some good suggestions
