Kohler 25 horse bored 30 over is this a good kart motor? Looking at swapping some parts/$ and ditching my 8 horse Briggs....input?

mt cub cadet guy wouldve fought you for that
Please stop double posting. This has been mentioned to you before, IIRC. You double post in almost every thread...... Use the EDIT button......in my profile is pics of my running 18hp briggs twin cylinder
it runs highway speed and will do wheelies on this dingo frame with a 40 series and normal 10 to 60 tooth
there 3 pics in the first 5 of that folder in profile ...tight fit for sure ,but no welding at alland it does not bend chain or axle BUT
I HAVE 4 SUPPORT BEARING MPOUNTS AND DIFFERENTIAL
at this time its being switched over to live axle so maybe then we will see the axle bending torque but prob not with all the supports lol
sid, it's a horizontal shaft engine.... The air filter kinda gives a clue....

Might want to invest in an all steel sprocket and add an axle bearing right next to the sprocket.
However, IMO, that was only part of the problem; the bigger issue is he was rolling back when he hit the gas, creating a worse situation; the momentum of the kart was the reverse of the power; those circumstances were a disaster waiting to happen...Where are your pictures to? I can't find them on your profile?
A 5-7 is usually adequate. 8-13 is pretty powerful. 16-35 hp V-twins are just nuts.
Is a 25 horse a good motor to have on a kart?
If the appropriate modifications are done... heck yes!
You will need to beef up the frame, maybe a new mounting plate aswell.
Keep in mind, clutches will be more $$$ than the average.
Looks like that engine has 2 shafts you could utilize... I believe Doc Sprocket has a briggs engine like that
On an equally strong frame, there's no reason why not...If the appropriate modifications are done... heck yes!
