There are no set rules, but just don't go over 3600rpms for extended periods for a little while

How much did these mods end up costing you?

Don't rev too hard for a while
Don't let the engine idle for a long time
And try to keep the engine on and off load
U need to bed the rings in
They are prone to glazeing when new

For what its worth the manual says 3 hr break in, so fowlers suggestions for around 3hrs should be fine i would think.

While I believe in a hard break in for cars (once around the block and straight onto the dyno for some 1500hp runs/tuning. I have no idea for these lol I would prolly do the same

Thx far the advice.well as for the costs it was 1100$ .i went with a 275 cam, billet connecting rod, weisco flat top piston, new 14cc head, three angle valve job, ported n polished, stock valves,26lb springs, rev rockers, molly push rods, mikuni 22mm with manifold for pulse adaptor, billet flywheel, upgraded bolt kit, modified clutch and .im also having the block bored and decking the piston.I might have to grind the block a little if the cam lobes dont have enough clearance.

My kart is an old pay to ride kart. Its stamped on the front " tiger manufacturing inc." It looks like an indy kart. All steel rather heavy.i found it on a job site someone ditched it at so i gave her new life.its a really kewl kart. Soon to be kewler. Before my kart was doing around 40 mph.i had a bored carb, fuel pump, header with the governor still hooked up.my incentive to do all these mods is simple.my buddy came over to the house for a familly barbeque and go karting.long story short. We raced he won.his kart was lighter but whatever.Im pretty sure next familly barbeque he wont be wiinning that race!!!!

Just thought i would post a video of my Predator 212 with mods. I am not really happy though and scared to death of the thing. I can't even imagine the rpms this motor is spinning at. In fact i plan on buying a Tiny Tach this week to see just that. BTW . . the motor is temporarily mounted to a pressure washing motor mount . . i will be installing it on my mini bike when i finish it.

I got the parts from ombwarehouse.com. I think i misspoke when i said i was "unhappy." What i should have said was that i am scared the motor is going to blow up. I didn't remove the governor but i had to fabricate a longer governor arm after installing the non-factory carb. This resulted in the governor not functioning properly. Hence you could say i don't have a governor. Because i don't know how far i can push the motor before it blows up it makes me air on the side of caution. I think i should have left it more stock or not have added the aftermarket carb and i wouldn't have this problem.

Frankly, you have a couple of otions. The cheapest and simplest is to put the stock valvesprings back in, and let the valve flutter limit your RPM. The alternate plan is to bit the bullet and put in a hi-po rod and 'wheel, and deep-six the governor entirely. You're in a bad place right now.

Well i bit the bullet and upgraded everything. I found myself wanting to do a couple of modifications and each 1 that i added.then there was another weak link in the chain.only thing stock in my engine is the crank.

The set up im running is the stage 5 engine at AGK. Only difference is im using rev rockers.im also having halls precision bore the block, and head dowels. I would've bought a complete engine, but im looking forward to having my dad and brother help me build the engine.my dad use to race go karts in Texas in the 40's.my little brother just bought three karts for his boys and himself. Should be alot of fun building engines for the kids.good luck with your build.

Yeah i agree Toystory. I think i'm gonna put the stock springs back in and see if that works. I would go the billet route but i'm not confident i could get the flywheel off and i don't even know what the rod looks like.
