Just bought and mounted new 212cc Predator engine on my go kart.. Problem I'm having is that when i start it the cam spins which makes the tire spin.. so have to have it off the ground so kart doesn't take off! Any suggestions on what i can do so when i start the engine the cam and tire isn't spinning and the kart just sits there at idle, so all i have to do is get on hit the gas and go?

Thanks!

Ok so by saying cam, you imply camshaft, which is an internal shaft that times the valves. The cam always spins when the engine runs, but it is inside of the crankcase. Do you mean the PTO, which is the shaft that comes out of the engine? Anyway, a centrifugal clutch makes it so you can sit still at idle, but the clutch will grip itself and start putting power to the wheel when the RPMs go up.

It would be awesome if we could see a picture of your kart.

Wow, a direct drive go kart. That's gotta be a first.

Must be really interesting to ride.

I think what you do is start it up sitting on a jack, then rock back and forth in it until it falls off the jack, then floor it.

Aren't all gokarts like this?
Mine is. :D

It sounds like you have a sticky clutch. But can't be for sure. My magic crystal ball is on the fritz.
