2017 - 600cc Kawasaki shifter kart - DNF

I'm entering the kart I've been building for about 3 weeks now. It's got the engine from a Kawasaki Ninja ZX6-R.

This is a little bit of a mockup of what the roll bar will be when it's finished.

Today I got my axle, wheel hubs, bearings, and brake disc. I'll be using the rear caliper off the bike. Should be able to get this installed tomorrow, and start working on my engine mounts.

Got my axle welded on.

Are you planning to put suspension on this thing?? That is going to be super scary fast! more so without suspension.

No, it's based on a Solidworks drawing I found of a Tony kart chassis. It's designed to go pretty fast, but I am aware that it's going to be terrifying and an incredibly rough ride.

Anyways, I got the custom rear sprocket that I ordered. Because the gear ratios in the transmission are made for a much larger rear wheel, I couldn't find any sprockets small enough to give me the right top speed... So I had to go custom. Unfortunately I can only find aluminum custom sprockets, and I looked for quite a while. It'll probably wear out quick but there's nothing else I could do.

I got my new front sprocket as well. It's a 17 tooth versus the 15 tooth that was on there.

I haven't made too much progress, still trying to figure out exactly how I'm going to mount the engine... I'm getting there though. Anyways, I got my wheels and I got a steering wheel that the instrument panel from the bike will fit on. These wheels are wiiiiide. They probably won't be much good for turning corners but my thought process here is that I might use these for straight line speed. I think I'll need the traction. And I'll get another narrower set if I ever get it to a track or something, or possibly use the fronts from this set on the back and get narrower ones for the front.

Well, I made a jig to weld my spindles together, then another one to weld the castor plates to the frame. It's about 10° of camber, and 20° of castor. It is adjustable so I'll have some room to play with it.

I like the 0-20 speedometer on the steering wheel.

That's actually the tachometer 16,000rpm redline... The speedometer is in the little LCD screen

But dude, I flippin' love the jig idea because getting those angles right is always a pain.
