Looking good Ethan. Do you have anybody showing you how to weld?

Looks like you could slow the wire speed down a little, Maybe slow you down a litle too on the welds.

There are some tips on welding in the "Tools" section here, also You tube is your friend.
I am not trying to insult you we all have to learn, I am not the best welder either. It just takes practice.

Those extra pants could have been useful...

Does your Mom still yell at you to put on pants before you go out to play?

Lol

And also, I can't really answer that question...

Lookin' Good!

Keep building!

I taught myself to weld as well. :2guns:

Practice makes perfect (or at least better than before)

Just be VERY careful.

***Welding produces dangerous gases, blinding light & instant (sear your flesh) super intense heat.

Just be VERY careful. :cheers2:

So do you type "this is taking too long" in each post, or do you just paste it?
Because if you type it each time, I can see why it's taking too long.

Also, when you're 12 (it's been too long ago for me) how long is forever?

Also, do your welds look like this?
Because this right here is a "heavenly" TIG weld.

If you are going to use Galvanized metal.
Just grind off the Galvanized first.
It is just a heavy coating.
There is no reason not to grind it off.
Also then you do not have to worry about fumes.
Plus It is hard to weld, like welding a painted surface.

I think my mind just farted, now me and my dad (I think) have agreed on a 8hp predator. Can I use my #30 comet on this for a little while? (I may not have to)

I picked up an 8hp predator. The 301 correct? Mine had a 1" PTO shaft as opposed to the 3/4" on the small block 212's.
I had to go to the 301 because I have a comet 40.

Yes it says it has a 1" PTO shaft. I, on the other hand do not have a #40. Do I need to use a clutch until I actually have money for a #40???

Here's a tip, if you don't already know. Watch the puddle. The molten pool of metal. As you travel if you look carefully you'll see a thin black line where the metal is solidifying. Each ripple you see in a finished weld is where that thin line was.

The cleaner the metal is to start with the easier it will be to see the puddle.

Another thing, if you have a hard time watching the puddle. Make sure the filter lens in your hood isn't too dark. #10 should be good. Flux cored is pretty darn smokey. You might set up a fan to suck the smoke away. Better for your young pink lungs, and it will make it easier to watch the puddle.

So watch the puddle, be comfortable as possible. Be safe as possible. Eventually it'll be like falling off a log.

In case I forgot to mention it, watch the puddle. Good luck young sir.

Got a predator 212 :2guns: it wouldn't fit so I flipped the studs! Now the long end of the studs are pointing up, therefore, short ends are pointing down

Wait, Spindles?
