maybe 2017 but here it is
refurbished a refurbished electric motor... I might make something that goes with it. I'm thinking 15mph tops but that might be a little optimistic

It is actually a lucas alternator that I got a while back and fixed up, now I'm really getting it ready for a project. I'm thinking about finding a kids bike somewhere and sticking it on him and just cruising around with it.

I might use these wheels instead of bike wheels, but now I'll have to put a lot more work into building handlebars etc.

did some stuff on the drive wheel. I got some motivation after a mate of mine brought over a tiny little bike and a 30cc whipper snipper engine to make a little pitbike with.

Glad to see you got away from the Lucas motor. Lucas electrical products have quite the reputation. I got enough of them on a triumph.

You forgot Joe Lucas, The Original Prince of Darkness.

1964 Triumph Bonneville ex-police bike taught me that!
It was my neighbors bike he said if I could get it running I could ride it, hey what 14 year old would not take that deal. He paid for plates and insurance. getting it running was no problem. Keeping it running big problem, never went too far from home. I did not like pushing that thing home. The last time it was ridden was 1981 and I was on it. Still sitting in same spot I parked it.

I've been thinking about using a starter motor

Don't bother wasting your time.

If it works it wont last long.

Not very fast, about as fast as a car motor cranks.

Their not made for any kind of continuous duty.

I built one years ago.

It was my first electric kart project.

Only lasted a few blocks.

Frustrated, the next spring I converted it to gas.

I've seen people say that quite a lot about starter motors... what does it mean? do you mean house blocks ?
I realise I would have to modify it a lot to get something useful out of it.

Yes, that would be (neighborhood) house blocks.

It probably lasted about 1/2 a mile. (maybe)

Then I pushed it home.

You need a continuous duty motor for a kart.

Not a starter or winch type motor.

A mate of mine gave me a broken power drill and I managed to extract the controller out of it, rated at 12A. I might end up using this little engine for it but so far the whole thing has cost $5.
style points for the light.
