I just got a used 2012 intrepid shifter kart it needs a lot of work and some parts but most of it is there. the question I have is that ive seen them with the front breaks on them and ive seen them without front breaks is that because they make 2 different models or is that the intrepid is just such a top of the line kart u can tune it with or without the front breaks depending on the motor and can I run it without a shifter motor just a regular racing kart motor thanks for ur time

if the engine is bigger than a 125cc than 90% of all races require the use of front brakes.

This only applies to shifter engines. Single speed engines dont require front brakes.

I have a 125cc shifter and i have been having the same class requirement issues. Its change to another engine or find brakes on ebay or buy them new for around $500.

Yes with your 125 or bigger shifter engine you need front brakes. But with a engine like a kt100 or briggs style you dont need front brakes. Check with your local track they are all different.

www.bmikarts.com is the best i have found. Steve is a great guy and they have lots of awesome parts.

You got any pics ? Those intrepids are nice. There is a Intrepid dealer here in okc where im at.

You'll find a list of all the current Intrepid models (and USA dealers) at this link: http://www.championkart.com/

I'd suggest you start by calling/emailing any of those Intrepid dealers (with your frame numbers) to find out if your chassis is a 125 shifter model or not. You might also find one of those dealers could save you some bucks on a good used axle and caliper
