Hey guys. I recently picked up a 2010 Hammerhead GTS150 through a trade. It is a little slow for a full grown 6'2" 285lb guy lol. I was wondering if it is possible/reasonable to swap a 420cc predator motor to it? Here are some pics of it. This project would come after I address the safety issues, (i.e. crossbars for the roll cage, lighting fixed, suspension rebuilt, ect.). Is there a lot to it? Would it be worth it to buy a different cart instead? I have no problem doing the work myself, I have enjoyed it thusfar. Any idea what it would cost to swap that? It will be mainly driven ON roads around my neighbor hood. I would really like to get it to at least 50 mph. Thanks!

Personally I think it's too big of a project to swap the GY6 to a Predator. You can increase the performance of the current setup by changing the variator rollers, installing an UNI air filter & jet kit, adding air to the tires and if you want to really perk things up put a big bore kit on it.

Thanks so much for the info! I will check out those videos when I get home. I also thought about just keeping an eye out on FB marketplace for a used motor for a good deal. Maybe then I would be able to.

Your going to be looking at a ton of work to put in a 420 when you already have a running driving kart already. If you are going to go that far you might as well go to a 670 and a 780 series CVT. I say modify what you have.

Something else to consider is changing the axle sprocket to a 39 tooth. You'll need to modify the chain to accommodate the bigger sprocket though. This will give you more climbing power on hills. Doing all or most of these upgrades should get you 50 MPH easily. No need to spend hours swapping out engines when you could spend hours enjoying your kart.
