Hey guys I am building something similar to a doodlebug just something i can ride to School instead of my car to save some gas. Also i will use it in college b/c Freshman can't have cars.
Well I was looking at a Honda gx50 or This 2 cycle if I get the 2 cycle i'll get a performance exhaust but if i get the Honda i'll just put on a straight pipe for a nice Harley rumble.

So the question is 2 cycle or 4?

It has to be under 50cc btw because i need it to be street legal and in my state the limit is 50cc

Your also probably gonna need headlights, turn signals, brake light, a horn and front+rear brakes.

Not if its under 50cc, in many states you can ride around vehicles under 50cc legally on the side of the road without all the bells and whistles.

Well in NC & VA, you gotta have all that stuff. Better be safe than sorry, make sure you do plenty of research.

Quoted from the Dmv website:roflol:Mopeds

Virginia Code section 46.2-100 defines a moped as a vehicle that:

  • travels on three wheels or less,
  • a seat that is no less than 24 inches in height, measured from the ground to the middle of the seat, and
  • has a gasoline, electric, or hybrid motor that displaces less than 50 cubic centimeters.

Those chinese 2-strokes can barely get out of their own way in a lightweight vehicle like a mountainboard or pocketbike. Very few people have experience with the Honda 50cc, this is the only one that comes to mind:

You might contact him to see what he thinks of the performance.

Get the two stroke engine, it will have more power. Those CAG ones tend to be pretty bad quality but they are ridiculously cheap, there's tons of info on the net about them.

I'd say they don't make clones of the Honda GX50, not much of a market for them.

Thanks

Hayden
