Just remember drive line brakes have not been used since the Model T Ford, and Edsel Ford had the good sense to talk old Henry out of continuing to utilize them for longer.

True but also keep in mind with my current idea this won't be my primary brake like I said before, moreso a drift/e-brake.

Sounds like a good reason to go with the scrub handbrake idea, for drifting, for emergency, for parking. Scrub brakes really only wear out tires when used for normal braking, using them to lock up the tire is completely different wear-wise.
