2.5hp Briggs and Stratton Kill Switch wire

How to add the kill switch the spark plug

On a 2.5HP Briggs and Stratton, where do you attach the kill switch wire? I tried the red wire (see pic) sticking out and that had no affect. If I place the wire on the spark plug and then toggle it to off it does kill the engine. But wouldn't that shock me if I touch the the switch? I used a rubber screw driver to toggle it lol :-D

I ask about I've accidentally touched the spark plug and got a jolt LMAO

on the old school engines that had a metal flap kill switch they would not shock you.

This either doesn't have it or broke. I'm wondering if there another wire besides the red that may stuck in side. But the person I bought the engine from said if were to attach the kill switch wire to the red wire and that should do it. But that doesn't seem to be the case. And my toggle switch is new so it's not that.

Hmm... The gauge of the wire shouldn't matter, right?

it working it was related to something pretty stupid, there was rust and paint inside the go kart tubing so after cleaning it's good.

Now this is a total newb question, I noticed after stopping the engine with the kill switch the engine needs time to rest before I can restart it. This isn't the case when I stop engine by pulling the choke. Is this normal?
