Hello to all! My name is Chris and i am 39 and stumbled across a old kart in an empty field, which after asking around at the nearest house (300 yrds) down the street and no one claimed it, i became the owner of! So after getting the kart home about 6 months go by and i am at a vacant house, i used to be a meter reader for elect. co. there was a GX160 lying by the meter! Took it home and started aft a few pulls, so i got a go kart and engine for free!! figured it would be a great restoring project for my 12 year daughter and I.

Yep! Everything in life is better when its for free!! I am trying to upload some pics of our progress but not having too much luck. I have been reading all the "how to" posts and when I try I'm lost. Anyway, I had to extend the frame 9" to be exact using another piece of solid round steel, like the stake's that are driven into the pavement for the big tents for parties and events (found that also)!!

1st kart build

Thanks to all! I am aware that the steering maybe compromised a bit but I have a huge area/parking lot to turn in. My daughters school is about 10 houses down from me and has LOTS of space! Btw, my daughter picked out the color, helped paint half, helped apply the clear coat, and is painting the pedals and steering wheel and other misc parts herself! I am EXTREMELY proud of her and happy as h!!! that she wants to build this kart. :wai:
