1st GoKart -Cali- Need Help

Sup evry one!

Im building my 1st gokart with this frame that I picked up for $150.00 + the dude threw in a 3.5 HP horizontal engine ( not for goKart) but possible other gokart appplications. Maybe Il just sell engine to someone.

I like the the racing type chassis that u see biut did not want to spend Bank on a 1st time racing goKart.

These are my plans for this frame. By the way My sisters BF picked up a little yard Kart for 150.0$ Its ur basic weld skills, Sq. tube steel... with Jiandong 6.5 engine-Brand new. Tires and everything else to make the thing rideable. The bad thing is I think his wheel base is two narrow so when you take a corner it wants to tip slightly and that makes it 2me dangerous for younger kids.

My plans for the yellow frame GoKart are ( by the way im removing the motor moun and centering a new mount for engine in rear, is that better for weight ditrubution)

Engine: 6.5 hp clone or bigger?
Tires & rims: slick tires race type but Im not racing just on street.. what type or size should I get, dont want to spend $$$ just for street fun use but hey I like to play hard?
Axcle & length & hardness: I have a 1" dia. 36" long keyed axel. I really want to buy a 40mm axel and weld on the bearing hangers ( why do some use more than 2 hangers?)
Hubs: I want to use those cool looking race type hubs but not spend $$$$$$ on ea. hub.. basic race type will do
Spindles: ?
Steering & linkage:??
Brake: Have some links to scooter type calipers as well as ebay, any suggestions?

sprockets and clutches: ? dont even know where to start

Driving conditions: street black top use, no off road

me I weigh about 190lbs 6'1
kids well 12 & 13 yr old

So basiclly I want to build a cool looking and above functional GoKart :stir:

get the cart low.. if for asphalt frst off

go to bobs 4cycle buy used wheels and tires..
BMI karts has hubs to mount those wheels..

I would use snow mobile brake setup off ebay (30-35 bux)
they sell the spindles for the front too.. or you can make your own PVC pipe and 5/8 bolt

U got a BIG PROJECT man good luck

the 6.5 clone will easily push a gokart 35-36mph on pavement geared 12/60 with a 11" tires
