well WD-40 is NOTHING of a chain lubricant. Why dont you just use somthing called chain lubricant or white lithium grease in a can.

how is it not? everyone has it already at home, instead of going out and buying the same crap just called chain lubricant use wd 40.

lithium grease is perfect for getting your chain filled with dirt. its great if you want to clean your chain after every use on dirt.
wd 40 is great because as you clean you re lubricate....

Engine problems

the go cat i just purchased has a couple of problems, my mechanic looked at it and said
1 needs a carb repair kit
2 needs a new govenor inside the engine(it revs really high, apparently the govenor is out of wack causing it to leak oil)

the repair kit is only about 12 bucks, but how much roughly is a govenor inside the motor(tecumasah 6 horse power)
hes gonna charge me 120 in labor to do the job, that sounds fair but Im knew at this so wanted some expert opinions, should i just look for a used motor? thanks guys

i'm confused how the governor is causing an oil problem. wouldnt there just be a hole you could cap with a bolt and nut if there is no governor?

anyway, yeah, if you're going to spend over $100, just get a HF clone or another cheap engine. they're guaranteed to work*. I wouldnt drop over a hundred for something that needs repair when i can get it new for roughly the same price.

*well, for that 30 day warranty

$120 to rebuild a carb is ****ing ridiculous. For $120 you can buy a HF blue and be halfway to a new rod (sorta needed for use ungoverned which makes it more fun to drive and faster).

You need a return spring to hold it shut (idle speed) till you apply throttle. that or you have you return hooked up backwards. A ungoved motor should behave similar to the goved one till you floor it.

Back to the chain issue. I just bought a new chain and plan on using the same chain lube I use on my motorcycle.

If the chain is rusty, why not buy a new one. I bought a racing chain for about $20.00. "Fun cart" chains I'm told can be bought for $7.00 - $8.00.

thanks off hand would you recommend a brand or a horsepower engine-dave

Depends where your going to run it, If your going to run it on flat land Id use 8HP engine if youre going to run it in mountains or up and down a hill I would use a 11HP.
Im using a 11Hp and its speedy!!
