1inch clutch install on my 8hp BRIGGS HELP

so I got my 1inch clutch today, here is what it looks like.

8hp briggs.... so now I have to make a motor mount and weld it to the cart...


O well..



does this look right to anyone????

The clutch should be closer to the block to put less stress on your bearings.

no the clutchs hole doesnt go all the way through

should I cut the end of crank shorter?

Those clutches aren't made to go on any further. They have a 5/8 opening at the end. Can't remember what for, but they are good to use.

so use it an modify engine mount so srocket lines up???

Well it should work as is, it would just be better if it was closer to the block.

any ideas on what the mounting dimensions are for this OLD 8hp briggs???

i did this b4, i was using a 2.5hp and it was 5/8" halfway then to a 3/4" so i could only put the clutch on halfway and my shaft snapped clean off on the first run. Hope it doesnt happen to you.

It is what it is.
This clutch will not be a problem nor will it's distance outward be a problem for crankshaft. Something else will break long before pto does as long as everything else is correct. Make sure chain is properly adjusted. Should never be tight at any point during it's rotation.
I prefer the "straight through bore" clutches, more commonly known as "Bi-directional". This type of clutch is somewhat more adjustable as to where it can sit on pto depending on how long it is.
Both types of clutches have advantages as well as dis-advantages.
