Hey,

I'm picking up a snowmobile tomorrow as a summer project, it's a 1996 ZR 580 EFI with 2000 snow-pro rear suspension and handle bars for $800 (really good price for around here)

Right now the engine is apart but it comes with a new top end (Teflon coated SPI pistons, rings, etc.)

It needs a bolt for the primary (already ordered for 16 bucks!), possibly crank seals, and some TLC.

It's been sitting apart for 2 years but it's in great shape and comes with a lot of extra parts and what not.

I'll keep you posted on how it goes and hopefully have pictures through out the build.

Here's a picture from the add, let me know what you think!

Thanks,
Chris

Finally got me cases split after fighting with the flywheel for 3 days...(Took 500ft/lbs impact, oxy-ace heat, puller, and a big hammer to get her off)

Spent three hours working on just the top of the case, here is how she turned out. Now my arms are tired from all that scrubbing lol. But hey, it's better to take your time and do it right then do a half *** job. Right now I'm using a mix of 3M Scotch-Brite pads, 150 grit plumbers grit cloth, and Engine brite. (150 grit for the really bad areas) The last picture shows most of my cleaning materials :p

Just ordered $300 worth in parts, including new secondary clutch for only 90 bucks. One question, what brand of battery would you recommend for the sled?

Why did you need a new secondary? They are rebuildable and dont take much...unless you didnt get one with the sled?

As far as a battery, personally i'd leave the battery out to save weight.

1997 was the first year they came out with a batteryless EFI system I'm pretty sure. As far as why I bought a new secondary, the one he gave me was from some old junk sled and was seized onto a jackshaft, (A jackshaft is already in my sled). It was also missing the spring and was in horrible condition, sheaves looked like 20 grit sandpaper... Plus this new clutch looks mint and for only $55 you can't go wrong.

I've been working on the body while I wait for parts, should be polishing the tunnel soon. More pictures are on the way!
