For $600, it's worth that in scrap. Definitely get it as long as it runs.

Just make sure you CAREFULLY look over the frame. Ive seen all too many jeeps with rust eating through important structural components.

i saw a jeep project on youtube where the guy was so pissed cause it was flaking apart...

he said dont buy a jeep over 10 year old cause of them falling apart...

and the deeper he got into the project the more of a nightmare it became.

Sounds like the guy just didnt look the jeep over well enough before he bought it.

My dad bought his first car, a 1948 Willy's Jeep, in 1978. Besides some rust on the DS door jamb, there was none. He had to park it on a hill when the weather got cold but thats beside the point.

Weve been using some Grand Cherrokees, worst problem we ever hade is the front diff goin out of one, and the other a rod bearing(and now the thing stall out under any significant load). The exhaust manifold have tend to crack... not thats really a problem, like its build to bypass the muffler and kat converter... performance!

As long as it has the 4.0 liter inline six and a 5 speed, go for it. That's a bulletproof drivetrain combo, they like to run 400,000 miles plus.

Long as they are taken care of?

If it werent for the front diff we would still be driving one with 250 some odd thousand... the lifters are needing to be helped though.
