hey does anyone know anything about a 1982 yamahaXJ750 cause i might be buy one for $300

Does it...

have spark?
have compression?
shift through all gears?
have anything bent?
have tires that hold air?
have any cracks?

Just a basic inspection should be sufficient as well as some negotiation to save a $ or two.

First thing first are you wanting to ride it on the street? If so make sure it has a good clean title. It can be a nightmare if it don't. Trust me I've been there before. If it turns over and the tins are in decent shape and most of the bike is there go for it.
