I don't currently own a vehicle with points, but I've messed with them enough. I don't understand the whining and moaning about them. Sure you have to clean and adjust them, but it takes like 5 minutes. Better than having your Duraspark box go out on you while you're on your way to Lowe's

the night i put them on i thought they were so bad ***. only 2" bigger but such a huge difference in the look from stock to the 33's. man i wish i kept them!

lol that truck is a lot rougher than it looks. at the point i sold it, it had no power steering, burnt up clutch, t-case had serious issues, wiring a mess, cab mounts all gone, broken leaf mount (hence the tree stump)

the rule with having dura spark is keep an extra one behind the seat at all times..

good luck with getting that back together, are you going to paint the whole thing once its done or just the fender? your paint looks nice

Yeah, I've been meaning to buy a spare but never got around to it.

The paint wasn't damaged except for a very small scratch, so I'm just going to try to bend the fender back and throw it back on. Thanks, it was repainted by the original owner in the 90's. I still haven't figured the paint out; the Dark Brown Metallic is definitely bc/cc, but the Pastel Sand seems like it's either really cheap single-stage automotive paint, or non-automotive paint . But it is halfway decent. The only rust was over the wheel arches and on the floorboards near the doors. Only one side needed replacing.

Got my parts. Not in the best of shape, but a little elbow grease will get them looking better.

^^If I was you, Id be tempted to put on the grill from a chevy or Dodge on there.
For giggles ofcourse.

Ive seen a chevy down at an antique engine show, then one year the guy had a Dodge grill on it. I had to look twice lol.

If I had the money and time, I would totally build some sort of chevy/ford/Doge combination truck or something.

haha here its chevy vs. ford. so any combination of those would be bad. and dodge... is just dodge

yesterday right before i was going to go on a big trip i blew the rear brake line on the axle. its good luck that i blew it 5 mins from home and not an hour away. so today i took a look at it, thankfully the really long brake line has already been done, just the ones on the axle were old. so i got a couple of pre-flared lines with fittings on them, new wheel cylinders, new spring kits, and DOT 3 brake fluid.

now i remember what a PITA drum brakes are. took a solid 30 mins of beating the crap out of each drum to get it off. my drums are rusted but not too bad, the inside looks almost brand new, not even worn. the pads look great. then took a while figuring out where all the springs go. found out my self-adjusters are shot, i tried cleaning up the threads but they still need to just be replaced.



bleeding the brakes was easy, some really nasty brake fluid came out though, i should flush the whole system. i sanded and painted the rear axle black, not perfection but it looks good. the right shock mount is broken off the axle, and the left frame-shock mount is broken off. the whole truck has no shocks

then i was rocking the axle back and forth and noticed a lot of play. didnt take much time to look at it, i thought it was the universals in the driveshaft. so i rushed to the parts store and got new ones. then looking further the play is coming from the bushing in the axle. it moves around about 1/16"-1/8". i think im just going to keep driving until the rear end blows. then maybe upgrade to 1 ton axles. hmm... if only i had money
