Just pickedup 2 old honda cb350's for my kart. There both in rough shape but everything I need is there. After looking over the m when I got home one turned out to be in sh***y condition and the other one is almost like new. The problem is that the crappy one has all the good parts, soooooooooo im just transfering them over to the good motor. According to Bikez the cb350 has 36hp @ 10,500 rpm so I think it should put me around pretty good. Anything specific I should check over on the engine? Ill pot some pics later. Oh ya I learned something new today :wai: I guess before you store a engine you should put tranny fluid in it and it prevents damage to the internals, i guess it worked cause the engine looks like new inside. yaaaaaaaay :biggrin5:

Its a good idea to slowly feed an engine ATF as it is running out of fuel, feed it more and more till it dies, this coats everything in oil. Then flush the carbs and fill with kerosene. An engine should keep for 50 years like that.

Ya it definatly works. I was really suprised at how much compression it has. Almost too much for me to get off. Good thing it has elec. start. I think I'm gonna take the good engjne out tomorrow and polish it up a bit.

Ok so I guess for some reason I can't get on here till about tweleve am which is a little too late to go take pics. My neighbors already give me oddblooks when I'm out at 10pm. Il get some pics on tomorrow.

Heres some pics a few days late :oops: . Motor was a bi*** to get out. Had to cut and bend the frame to get it out of there. I started taking a wire wheel to it and its a night and day difference. I have some pics to show ya. Let me know what you guys think :confused:

You shouldn't have had to cut or bend the frame to get it out. Would have been easier to leave the engine in bolted up and cut the frame around it, no need to make engine mounts. Should be a good project though.

Ya thats what I was thnking. For some reason there was clearance issues with the oil pan. Oh well though. I think if I build a motor mount it will look nice. Im off to go polish the motor :wai:

I really am not sure about the frame-cutting thing. When I was a teen, I dismantled a '72 CB500. I don't remember having to kill the frame to do it. He//, they got the engine IN somehow! I dunno. 'Twas a long time ago, I could be wrong. Regardless, sounds like you got yourself an excellent powerpland, glad to hear it! The only bummer is that you can't sell the the frame. There's probably a vintage enthusiast/restorer/cafe racer guy that would pay some good bux for it...

Ya im not gonna cut the other one. I was just gonna sell it as a roller. I got some pics of the motor after i polished it up and it looks really nice. Just gotta clean the carbs and fab up some exhaust system and I should be good.

And Redsox, he lives like 1500 miles away from me, if I even had the cash, I could probably find one closer. It just cuts MY frame/heart mounts to see that CB cut up is all. Lol.

Still have it completely intact. Started making a cut on the top of it a week ago and the blade bent and snapped. I guess it was a sign :D :wai: . I do what I gotta do though to get things done, and it was 11:30 when i was doing this so I probibly wasnt thinging straight at the time. I threw the carbs on the motor for some reason and it got me thinking. Since I have to rejet for a custom exhaust sould get some pods for the bike? Also is there anyway I can get that superbike sound from my motor? I was thinking of putting a glasspack on it but I dont want it to sound like a ricer. I have some pics attached of the shiny motor with the carbs on and the current state of my parents garage, There not too happy about that :roflol:

superbike? ehh probably not quite, but im sure you could make it sound pretty nice. My kz400 engine sounds like a beast, i have a custom made exhaust system and SS muffler though. glass pack would probably sound pretty nice.

You won't be able to get a 2 cylinder bike to sound like a superbike, but you can make it sound BETTER!

Parallel twins seem to have a great sound track anyway. My GS sounds particularly beastly because it has a 180 degree crank, so it has an odd firing order. Fire - fire - wait - wait, whereas most parallel twins have a 0 degree crank i.e Fire - wait - fire - wait.

Just checked, the CB350 also has a 180 degree crank. Rock on!

Also Kaptain, the KZ400 has a 0 degree crank, so the pistons travel simultaneously. Smoother power, but more vibration and a much more even sound.
