hi. this is my first posting. i built this cart while in college but have never had it running very good. It has a 16hp PowerMax engine. 19" X 8" rims off a Lexus. Custom hubs and live rear axle. I am having alot of issues with the turning because of the huge rims and live axle when driving on the road. its pretty dangerous. Its also very fast and has alot of power. its runs perfect off road but i seem to have issue with the front axle strengh. It also has a Comet 40 Series on it that i am having problems with too. any suggestions to help make this kart not a rip apart and restart?

you could try taking the keyway out of one of the rear wheels and greasing the axle so the hub would float on the axle and see if that would help, it would be like you made it into a one wheel drive.. if you try this, remember to put lock collars on both side of the hubs to keep it from moving around... I don't really like this idea, since you have your hub rolling on the axle, but it's something to try, at least to see if that improves the handling...

With that much traction, you ARE going to have severe understeer. You may be able to counteract it a bit with a rework of your steering geometry, but I doubt it'll do much. Look into the diff shown above, one from a lawn tractor, small car, or golf cart.
