I have a cub cadet tractor that the drive shaft broke on, everything else works, electric start, PTO, runs like a top. i was wondering would it be possible, (and safe) to build a kart and then just use the electric clutch on it to drive the rear axel by V-belt or would i have to actually put a Torque converter on it? anyone else run a similiar engine? i know its a kohler, i was just hoping some one would have some insight on any kinda problems with an engine that big?

nope, acctually its a horizontal the drive shaft came out the rear with the flywheel, and the PTO came off the front, i figured i could set the engine in sideways on a kart and run a v belt direct from the PTO clutch, (its electric) and run that to the drive axle.

definitely! how's the engagement on a clutch like that -- is it very jerky?
