16hp idle adjustment?

So I just upgraded my manco deuce to a 16hp vanguard v-twin. The engine fit well and it runs great.

The only thing keeping me rolling is the high idle. I am not able to get it in forward or reverse safely. It will go into gear but it is pretty violent and it chirps the tires. I have a feeling the trans axle will explode if I keep going.

Does anybody have a how-to on the vanguard idle adjustment?

take the cover off above the recoil,two philips screws,the idle is behind the rubber tube thing that gose into the air cleaner,you can get a screwdriver in there and turn it counter clockwise to lower idle..if you still have govener ,it will surge if you go to low with idle.

Only if you are talking about cracking open the crankcase and removing it completely.

That's EXACTLY what will happen if you jack with the govenor linkage OUTSIDE of the enginge!!!

It's what blows up INSIDE....if you completely remove it...you can safely get somewhere @ 5000 rpm...compared to the stock 3600 or whatever.
