160cc help

hie i am about to get 160cc Victa 2 stroke lawnmower engine. i have the right mounting brackets to put it in a horzontal state.

since my school does some stuff in Automotives, they are giving me the engine tomorrow and i want to put it in a go kart.

does anyone know how i can increase power speed and torque?

any ideas are welcome

Biggest improvement would be a better/bigger carburettor.

Porting slightly with a die grinder, careful not to get grinding dust in the engine (I'd disassemble the cylinder and take it away from the engine for this).

Don't know if it will work for the Victa, but replace the head gasket with liquid gasket to increase compression. Lap the top of the cylinder and the head on a flat surface (piece of glass with wet and dry paper on top of it) - figure of eight motion.

That should help a bit, but you won't really go fast until you get a bike or sled engine.
