$150 budget Minibike

Building a Birthday Present for my nephew.

I have a TAV and OHH50 5HP 172cc Tecumseh PowerSport.

His mom will toss in $150.

Probably going to scour Craigslist for a used Roller.

I think $150 should be close depending on what I can find.

I've spoken to him.

Roller's are $200.
Frames are $100.

This minibike has to stay at my house (per his mother's stipulation).

This just means I get to drag my nephew to the Badlands Off Road Park so that I'm not the only one struggling on trails on a minibike.

I want to go to badlands, but never have the time. It's a little over 3 hours for me though, so a lot of my day would be spent driving on a day trip, but I usually can't plan a weekend trip with any friends due to conflicting schedules. It's always more fun riding in a group.

It's like two hours for me.

I plan on loading up as many tools and spare parts that I can fit and ride til I brake something that can't be fixed on the spot.

I don't really know what to expect, It looks like a fricken blast.

Some of my friends have been there and they tell me it's great. I usually bring something extra to ride in case I have a break down. Last time I went on a trip, my quad bent a valve and got pretty beat up. I just got it rebuilt and bored it over .0160" With a new hi-comp piston and rings, this thing really flys now.

That is a very entertaining video shot from within a pack of minibikes. 10 times more interesting than a solo ride. I like how they stopped for a safety check early in.

Also: no music save for the pipes. Does a GoPro not shoot anything but wide-angle, fish-eye footage?

Gopro's just have really wide angle lenses.

Also, with the gopro hero 2 and up you can change the settings to have a normal recording view. The fish-eye is just an option

I prefer this fish eye footage over the crappy cell phone footage most videos use. *shrugs*

I like the disc brake but, I'd rather have the other one.
I'll wait one more day, then move on I guess.

I could have picked up the baja today, but it is like 1 hr there and 2 hrs back (with traffic). I work in 3.5 hrs and would be mad if I missed out on the other one for $175.
