I would have left the jackshaft on because you have the opportunity to have more adjustments by just changing some sprockets to increase or decrease speed. Getting an axle sprocket off can be a real challenge. Also the smaller sprockets on the jackshaft are a lot cheaper. Those large tires you put on may require a bigger sprocket than the 60 that Denny suggested. Don't take offense to comments made on the site, many of the guys were former writers for Jerry Seinfeld--it is our dry humor.
Your earlier question, do you need the jackshaft with the t/c. No, but now you are going to have to figure out just what sprocket size you really need for the rear axle. Denny's 60 tooth was a guess and a starting point but it is NOT etched in stone. Big tires always look neat on a kart but they are hard on a t/c belt if the gearing selection is not correct. Manco had two very good engineers on kart design and they test the heck out of a design before it went into production. What would work in IN or IL may not work in a hilly area like KY so they took all of that into consideration since they didn't know where the kart was going to end up.
You will find it is a lot easier to change the gears on the jackshaft then pull out the axle. Just my opinion. I did look at the schematic that Hellion provided and it does indicate a 10 tooth clutch was the transmission on the kart BUT it would not work on the size tires that you put on. The nobbies and tire size nullified the clutch. We have all been there, we change things and then find out we have screw it up and then in order to save the tires we have to dump a lot more money into the project to get it to work. This how we all learn and we get better at it each time and build up a great supply of spare parts.
